Jason’s book, "I’m On LinkedIn, Now What"

It’s the comfy pair of slippers you never want to part with.. The last bite of apple pie in autumn…. Okay, I really AM as passionate about our LinkedIn Relationships as I am a comfy pair of slippers and great cup of coffee with warm apple pie! Why? Because it is incredible comfort food to be LinkedIn to thoughtful people in a network where you are all better by being your best and most genuine natural selves!
I got involved in LinkedIn, because a friend invited me, not because I understood it. She didn’t either though. It would take me a bit of time to learn to apply the art of Social Networking, however I have since had opportunity to see this work over and over and over again, where people used the tools of LinkedIn and Social Networking Graces, to create unique brand and professional opportunities for themselves.
However today there are a ton of resources based upon those of us who lived it, beginning as a necessity in 2001…
One Superstar of Social Networking for Career Results is Jason Alba! His community sharing and networking makes him one of my favorite community thought leaders in career and social networking resilience. Read about his success with JibberJobber and come to appreciate what I do about Jason!

Career Creative Social Networking?

Career Creative Social Networking: This gift of career creative social networking helps you in marketing your services, and helping opportunities to find you. The key to market share is positioning, availability, and “sharing” readiness, whether your product is your self, your business or your career. Career Creative Social Networking takes a “Law of Attraction” like form of ‘Asking’, ‘Believing’, and ‘Receiving’ it’s benefits.
ASKING: Establish and maintain a clear and current profile. Learn to use the LinkedIn Search and Reference Tools to your peak advantage.

- LinkedIn Tips for Finding Jobs
- Linked In Widget for use in Sigfiles, blogs, websites, email..

BELIEVING: If I ask clearly and consistently, in the right circles, it is given. Relationships matter, and people matter. Believing that the solution exists, we are in a constant cycle of giving and receiving, lets enjoy the adventure.
- Create Fun ways for People to be introduced to you!
- LinkedInABox
- Apply some of Chris Brogan’s 5 Tips to LinkedIn Profiles.

(Giving and) RECEIVING: In social circles, the notion of receiving is seen as self centered, it does not have to be that way. We teach what we most need to learn… So lets try to embody giving the values and gifts we hope to receive. If we are willing to be an example of helpful networking, surely we can receive connections to the same. Want more clients? Give more. Want endorsements, give more. Want more positive experiences– receiving IS about being part of a connected community.. Stay connected, it’s a choice!

Telecommuting Trends and Techniques

Here is the latest news on Telecommuting Trends and Techniques: Yesterday being Labor Day in America, a time when many (except myself and a handful of other type A personalities) were not working yesterday.
CIO.com ran a great article on “How to Negotiate a Flexible Work Schedule”.
IndustryWeek reported that the U.S. is lagging in Telecommuting policy, behind Europe and Australia, despite the available technology and infrastructure.
Perhaps the closing sentence is an indicator for why Europe and Australia have embraced telecommuting. “The U.S., however, cited “employee retention” as the biggest motivator for implementing a flex-work environment (23% of companies surveyed). More than 55% of companies in Australia and France cited “increasing employee productivity” as the biggest motivator.”
Trying to keep good employees from leaving, versus choosing to be most productive and in life balance are two very different values. What are your thoughts on this study? Is there a dramatic difference from your experience in the global workforce approach to telecommuting?
